Oh, Christmas Tree…

Here’s a flash from the past, a Christmas tree in Yankton, SD through the ages…


For some reason, this years Christmas tree seems more beautiful than previous trees, the lights brighter, warmer, friendlier. Maybe age has something to do with it, my age, not the trees. There is nothing much different from last year’s tree and the one before that. It does seem a little better tree than this one in the family home in Iowa from perhaps, 1959. A Charlie Brown tree if ever I saw one!

We didn’t put our tree up in Manson as early as we do now. Seems like the Sunday before Christmas or about a week before and then left it up through New Year’s, having a New Year’s Eve party with grab bag gifts, a fine tradition that is gone. Sister Nancy is on the left.
